Hi everyone.

I have just uploaded two more slide shows of images taken in January and February this year follow the link on the left to the Gallery page.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just a quick rundown from this part of the world to kick off the year. December came and went with the usual pre xmas flurry and produced some cracking reddie and kingfish action on the banks thanks to our friends at Jervis Bay Fishing Charters. Give Angelo a call to sort out all your offshore needs on their new 54 footer "Illusion". As we speak a few small marlin captures have been recorded at middle ground and the tubes inside the bay recently, and the "Big E" tells me that a 28kg king came from the tubes on a popper a few weeks back which is top effort. Rat kings are all over the shop in the bay as we speak if you can get past the seals. I fished with Ernie in early January and we got robbed on reds and kings which was frustrating to say the least.

The Basin has been a challenge at times, particularly between xmas and new year, particularly with the amount of boat traffic and 25 degree water, in fact on some days just putting a legal flattie in the boat was a struggle let alone hooking and releasing one of the "Big E's" pet big girls!. The situation changed after the xmas day rain and at least putting a feed together has become a more viable proposition. Whilst the flattie action had been a little quiet the surface action on the flats has been red hot, with good numbers of whiting and bream readily accepting finesse presentations. If you don't size down line and leader your not in the game. If you've never caught a bream or whiting on a surface lure then now's the time experience the Basin or the Shoalhaven River at it's peak. I've fished most days since boxing day and most sessions have produced bream on the surface including a black and yellow combo recently. Add to that some gin clear water on the eastern side of and a rain forest backdrop, and you got a recipe for a great day on the water.

As we speak we've just had two weekends in a row of intense rain, in fact over 300mm in two weeks. The build up to the second system saw two of the best bream and whting on surface lure days I've experienced in a while. Ray and Thommo cracked the magic 40cm mark on the whiting, and the Rob and his crew from the central coast managed a cracking 43cm bream on surface lures the next day.Yours truly had to laugh when a 32cm bream came from the first "demonstration" cast of the day.Congratulations on your first bream and whiting on surface lure guy's, I don't think it's going to be you last.

See you on the water some time soon.

Ernie released this 94cm beauty. The fish was actually caught by Kev on a green gladiator blade.
November 2009 in the Basin will go down as a month of quality not quantity as the smaller lizards have gone off the chew for the time being but the Bream have been very active over this period and some good sized fish have been caught.

Hi everyone

Welcome to Bay and Basin Sportsfishing.

Based in Erowal Bay on the shores of St George’s Basin, 5 mins south from Jervis Bay, just on 2hrs south of Sydney, we consider ourselves more than just a fishing charter, we’re a “guided fishing experience”. Our aim is to provide “tight lines and good times” whilst educating anglers primarily on the art of fishing with soft and hard bodied lures, whilst being surrounded by some of NSW most unspoilt natural beauty.

Specialising in small groups of between 1-3 adults, our tours are mostly conducted on calm waters aboard a well appointed 5.6m centre console vessel capable of carry 6 passengers and equipped with the latest marine electronics from Lowrance and Minn Kota.

Your guide and tutor, Greg Reid, has over 15 years experience fishing, diving and boating on this section of coastline and knows the area like the back of his hand.

“from Paul Malov PFIGA Facebook page,
Greg's a top bloke! Got to have a fish with him on the Basin about a month and a half ago! Knows the Basin like the back of his hand”

Bay and basin Sportsfishing is a highly professional operation set up to ensure you get the most out of your fishing experience in a fun and safe way.

So if you’ve never used a soft or hard bodied lure and your keen to learn and be taught by a patient guide, or you’re a serious fishing addict like our good selves, then we aim to provide “tight lines and good times!” So what are you waiting for? Pick up the phone today.

CATCH PHOTOGRAPH AND RELEASE

Bay and Basin Sportsfishing actively supports, practices and promotes catch photograph and release fishing (CPR).

“Limit your kill, don’t kill your limit”

Whilst we are happy for our clients to take a few fillets home for the table we have in place self imposed specific size limits so that we do our bit to ensure that our estuaries remain viable recreational fisheries for many years to come.
